457 Temporary Employer Sponsored Work Visa
The subclass 457 Temporary Employer Sponsored Work visa is the most commonly used program for employers to sponsor overseas workers to work in Australia on a temporary basis.
The subclass 457 visa allows businesses to employ overseas workers for up to 4 years in certain specified occupations only. Go to our FAQ tab to find out if your occupation is on the 457 list.
One of the many attractions of the 457 visa is that you don’t have to hold formal qualifications if you can prove you’ve worked in your occupation for at least three years in the case of trade occupations and five years for professional occupations.
Subclass 457 visa holders can work in Australia for a period of between one day and 4 years and bring any eligible dependents with them to Australia — dependents can work and study after entering Australia.
There are 3 processing stages in sponsoring an employee from overseas under the subclass 457 visa program
- The business obtains approval to sponsor (known as “SBS approval”)
- The business “nominates” the position; and
- The visa application is made
We are with you “every step of the way” for all of these three steps, with the aim of minimising the time, expenditure and stress caused to you and your business.
